Ma Belle

Norma Jean — we all know that name well. In this case, however, rather than being associated with a blonde bombshell movie star and pin-up model, the name belongs to the caravan equivalent.

There has truly been no aspect forgotten on Norma Jean from the alcohol cabinet to the built in table cooler, and while you may think this caravan has been built just for style there has been no corners missed making Norma Jeans memory ready to live on for another 60 years.

Get Rhythm

“Get Rhythm” is a highly customised caravan both inside and out.

I found her in Tauranga and still to this day it is a mystery of what model she is.

Many say she is home built but I believe this is a factory make. I used Altex paint for durability and protection.

This caravan is all about using your imagination to show that your ideas are limitless.

Memphis Belle

An Oxford model built in the early 70’s, Memphis Belle was the very first caravan I worked on.

An awesome find at only $200 I couldn’t wait to get to work and make this caravan something special.

This caravan has a real retro theme to it as you can tell by the red and white colour scheme.

Andy’s Caravan

Andy’s caravan is a 1975 Alpha made in New Zealand.

This caravan was a complete rebuild with a customized interior using the owner’s choice of colours. As you can see in the photos, both interior and exterior have a matching flow and all parts of the caravan are functional. We also used Altex paint to make this caravan durable.

Get Rhythm Scooter

Check out this fabulous scooter renovation!

This scooter has been highly customised to match the Get Rhythm Caravan.

It is a 1963 Puch 150cc made in Austria but sold widely in New Zealand. I found this pooch at a swap meet in Rotorua and knew it was exactly what I was looking for.

Surfer Rosa

Surfer Rosa was found locally and was one of the first customized caravans we worked on.

Originally she belonged to a 93 year old lady who had owned the caravan for many of years. As time progressed the caravan became less used and had been stored uncovered for a long period.

La Bamba

This 13ft Caravan was recently completed as a spec caravan.

At Retro Custom Caravans we aim to cater for each individual as much as possible, so for this caravan we decided to leave the inside for a new owner to work with and we focused purely on the structural and exterior aspects. This allowed for the caravan to then be adapted to suit the new owner’s preferences. The colour concept is not our usual but worked really well and as you can see the results were amazing.

Hail Elsie

Hail Elsie originally began as ‘Gypsy Blues’- a spec caravan for an upcoming event- but before ‘Gypsy Blues’ could make her debut she was spied by an interested customer who had great plans and a strong vision. It wasn’t long before ‘Gypsy Blues’ became Hail Elsie a coffee selling movable vendor.

Maybellene

Mollie is a 1969 Anglo Pullman caravan that was found at a local campground where it had , been used as a permanent dwelling. This caravan was purchased by the owner who then commissioned us to customise it to match the theme and designs of the Port Ohope General Store which they also own in Ohope, Bay of Plenty. Mollie took just over 6months to build and was the runner up at the Whangamata Beach Hop.
