“KIKI”
As you will see on first glimpse this isn’t your ordinary caravan and not one that you see often. Found locally, hidden away deep in a back yard, I knew instantly she was a gem. We dragged her back to the workshop and I just couldnt resist but get to work on her straight away.
Not seeing one like this before I done some research and found it was made in New Zealand by oxford caravans. The exact year is not quite clear but I would say between 69-79 (if anyone has any information we would love to know).

Here at Retro Custom Caravan’s LTD we do not just do complete rebuilds. For some it may just be the outside of their caravan that needs some work completed and for others the inside. Quite often we have clients phoning us to say “help, we have started the restoration, stripped it all out and now realised we just don’t have the time to complete it” and that is totally fine we are always here to help.

This little gem is a 1956 Circa and was restored to accompany our clients as a multi use space. A cute getaway caravan, an extra sleeping space and let’s not forget to mention an amazing entertainment space, which I’m sure is going to be very handy.

This caravan is just what is needed for all summer getaways!

Not too big and not too small with just the right amount of room to have plenty of fun. This caravan was stripped back to the bare ali and refurbished from scratch. We left the inside as much as possible to allow room for the new owners to add their own personal touches. This makes it easy for customers to focus more on what they want rather than having to worry about all the nitty-gritty stuff.

Midori Lounge

A complete collection of previous custom restoration’s

A 1970’s Lightweight caravan customized and restored with a sweet mix up of colours that were picked by the customer herself.

As you can see by all the colour’s this is no caravan for the plain and simple. A 1970’s Lightweight that we were able to restore back to her full glory while adding in some modern twist’s along the way. The lino … well that is a story on itself, imported from Italy purely for this caravan there was no way that we could just leave that as the only statement.

Island Time –

One man’s trash is another man’s treasure and just like the saying goes, some of this ‘junk’ can be found in the most craziest hidden places possible. We sure do have a story or two just on the adventure’s we have retrieving these caravan’s. BUT our favorite story of all is when we can return the caravan completed for that final look in all it’s glory to the original owners.

Clara-Belle    Here we have a 1972 Crusader caravan restored and customized with what we would call a subtle flow with a modern/retro vibe.   The main feature of this would have to be the 'Kiwiana' beach entrance door... What better way to welcome your guests in then...

Custom Made, here at Retro Custom Caravan’s we can not only customise caravan’s but also furniture, accessories and or attachments for your caravan.

One man’s treasure maybe another man’s dime.

Mollie is a 1969 Anglo Pullman caravan that was found at a local campground where it had , been used as a permanent dwelling. This caravan was purchased by the owner who then commissioned us to customise it to match the theme and designs of the Port Ohope General Store which they also own in Ohope, Bay of Plenty. Mollie took just over 6months to build and was the runner up at the Whangamata Beach Hop.

Ma Belle, Modern… yes, Retro… yes and completely restored/customised by us at Retro Custom Caravan’s LTD.Ma Belle was originally built by a Rotorua, New Zealand based caravan company (Muir Caravans) in 1964.

Surfer Rosa was found locally and was one of the first customized caravans we worked on.

Originally she belonged to a 93 year old lady who had owned the caravan for many of years. As time progressed the caravan became less used and had been stored uncovered for a long period.

La Rosa is a 1960’s Oxford Calypso caravan that was found stored in an old barn during one of my many travels.

This caravan was great fun to work with as the more I progressed on it the more ideas I had, making this caravan a real one off.

Frankie-Jo In conjunction with our clients as a team effort here we have for you the 2020 Whangamata Beach Hop winning caravan! For us this has been our 5th winner, but for Kate and Tony their first which we are so proud of them.   Our clients mean a lot to us and we...

An Oxford model built in the early 70’s, Memphis Belle was the very first caravan I worked on.

An awesome find at only $200 I couldn’t wait to get to work and make this caravan something special.

This caravan has a real retro theme to it as you can tell by the red and white colour scheme.
